Ground-floor extension and renovation of Edwardian family home in North Kingston
About
Pace were asked to renovate the dated ground floor of this Edwardian house in North Kingston. The family lived onsite during the project so we needed to work quickly and considerately around them.
We took down the old conservatory and in its place built a new extension. We entirely reconfigured the back of the house creating an open-plan kitchen-diner with a large island and Maxlight sliding doors. The former kitchen was reconfigured as a snug, a flexible room that opened onto the kitchen. We laid engineered oak flooring throughout the ground floor installing under-floor heating and additional insulation, and reintroducing period cornicing, skirting boards and picture rails. Our team also designed and built bespoke cabinetry in an under-utilsed shower room transforming it into a smart and practical utility and WC.
The main part of the works were completed in just two months. The result is a warm and practical family home which blends modern and period features, and where the available space works well for the whole family.
